Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there. Today, I thought I'd just give a quick nod to my favorite mother in a Romance novel and that would be none other than Gwen Goodnight from the Jennifer Crusie novel FAKING IT.

Gwen has raised a great group of daughters, of course, they're all bent, but great none-the-less. I love how Gwennie shows her aggressions through sharp white teeth in her paintings, quilts, and samplers. I love Gwen's saying - "If you can't be a good example, you'll just have to be a horrible warning." I love her sampler that says, "When Eve ate the apple Her knowledge increased But God liked dumb women So Paradise ceased."

I love how she was going to settle for a muffin in what she thought was the best move for her family, but how she finally comes to her senses and takes the possible doughnut. Most of all, I just love her entire family.

Who are some of your favorite literary moms? Why do you like them so much.

Happy Mother's Day! I'm off to spend it with the kiddos.

Take Care

I'm big an paranormals,so the mom that came to mind when you asked the question was Kate Conner from Julie Kenner's Demon-Hunter Soccer Mom series, a mom who can fight demons and take care of a teenager and a 3yr old at the same time keeps my spirits up. I guess it gives me the feeling that moms are heroes to even stay at home moms like myself....I hope you had a wonderful mother's day.
Hugs, Danette

Ahhh...one of my all time favorite books, and Gwen is defintely the mom I would have wanted growing up. Now that I'm an adult of course, I'm pretty happy with the mom I have, but when I was young, I didn't think she was "hip" enough...LOL.

danette - I haven't read the Demon-Hunter books yet, I keep meaning to and then forget all about them when it's time to buy books! Must check those out because I've heard good things.

Debbie - My mom's a hippie. Or was, whatever, but she was always the favorite mom of all my friends. Funny that she was so much stricter than the other moms though. I only hope I'm half as great a mom as her. And Gwennie, how great, huh?
